The dryer just quit. No sounds no spinning no nothing. I tested the thermal fuse with an ohm meter and it reads as a short. I tested incoming power and am getting all 220 volts in. If I set the timer for say 50 minutes it will count it down. Controls are easily accessible accept for the motor. Any ideas?

There is usally a wireing diagram inside every machine under one of the service pannels

A littel study of it should should find were the power is stoping

Door switch is fine. I found the circuit schematic however the timer seems hard to follow. It looks like the push in part for the timer just pulses something to make it start. When I ohm out the parts I think are the switch for the timer I am reading an open. I would think when I have it pushed it would close. Will a dryer act totally dead if the timer is bad? Is this common? The timer is like 100 bucks and there is a no return policy on them.

What about a putting a volt meter on the motor to see if you get voltage there?

The motor has a centrifugal switch. The push switch in the timer gets the motor going until the centrifugal switch kicks in.

You say you have nothing, so it sounds like there is an open connection somewhere. The motor is not the place to start.

Re: Maytag Performa Electric Dryer

My boss had pity on me for working so many hours and told my wife to buy a new washer and dryer on her. So after 1000 dollars later they will be here on Saturday. Still drives me crazy cause I am usually good at these things. The motor is totally in accessible without taking the whole dryer apart. I am seeing voltage on the timer but the schematic is not very descriptive of what and where voltages should be. I guess it is off to the junk yard with this. Thanks for the replys.
