mazda 626

[flashback]

Hey Fellas, someone ran a red light and totaled out my son's 92 S-10, we got 3300 dollars from ins. and bought a 1996 mazda 626 ES costing 3500. Seems like a nice car and it was alot less money than an accord or camry. It does have 120000 miles on it and had a timing belt put on a couple of months ago. I have seen the honda's and toyota's go 200000 or better. Have any of you had any experience with the mazda's? Thanks....

Flashback, I have a 91 Miata with about 148K. No real problems, just gas and go. I have read on the Miata net that several have gone to 300k until needing a rebuild. I think that you probally have a fine ride for your son.

I had a 1990 mazda 626. I loved it, my wife hated it. Drove it for 2 years and got rid of it.<br />I never had any problems or gripes. it got 28-33mpg had plenty of power. I bought it with 60k and sold with 130k. If taken care of just about any japanese car will last a long time.

Bought my wife a 1994 when we got married. It had 60000 on it when we bought it. Was a good car until it hit 100,000. Junk after that.

I had a 1995 ran great some aftermaket hop ups and was abused daily got it with around 70000miles lasted me until 169300 reason for no longer having it is i hit a deer at somewhere around 50mph and got discouraged.

Thanks for the replies, sounds like most of you had favorable experiences, and I truely expect and appriciate some negative reponses also. In the end, it's just a 3500 dollar car so if he gets a couple of years out of it he hasn't done too bad, by then, hopefully his insurance will be at a reasonable enough rate where he can get a little newer car..
