Pulled boat out to get ready for the season yesterday. stored inside over the winter with outdrive down. Now I can raise my outdrive but cannot lower it without extra weight on it and even then its very slow down. If I raise it and leave it up it will settle down within a couple hours.

Bled system and was able to get some air out of it but still have the same problems. Am I right assuming trim cylinders need rebuilt?

Ayuh,..... The cylinders might be draggin' from the lack of use,.....

Rebuild 'em if ya want, but I'd probably run it, 'n decide later,....

The thrust from the prop will push the drive down, once in the water,....

My concern is more about how fast they settle, it never did that before. I know on our farm equipment that could be and internal leak OR partially stuck valve (I'm a mechanic by trade and rebuild a few cylinders each year for work)

You have 3000 psi on demand to go up and only 800 psi for down. The outer packing seals have corrosion built up around them. The seal kits are cheap and should be no problem for you to re-build. There is a stepped spool in the front of the ram that sometimes does not come out when the ram is apart, screw the cover nut on the ram cylinder and bang it on the table to release it. The hydraulic fluid you have will probably work to refil the system. By cycling the system up and down will purge the air back to the pump.

Now that its out in the sun and about 50* it settles to the ground in about half an hour. Guess ill pick up rebuild kits this week or next and just rebuild them.
