Hi,
When I seperated the gear housing from the drive shaft housing part of one of the seals (the lower one) came out with the shaft. Can I change this without removing the drivshaft housing from my boat and dismantling it all?

If your talking about the seal in the bottom of the upper, in other words it seals on the input shaft on the lower. Yes you can change that without pulling the upper off. You will just have to do it laying on your back. A little harder but no big deal.

Do the flat part of the seals steel casing be tapped on to seat the seal or does the flat part of the seal casing seat against the drive shaft housing?

It's #10 in the drawing.

That is correct - and if memory serves, you simply tap it in square till the face is flush with the housing.

You are talking about the seal that goes here, correct:

Those can get pretty bad. Here's the one pictured above as I removed it compared to the new seal:

Thats the seal. It appears that the one in my drive was installed upside-down. It's open end is down. What can I use to pull it? Any ideas?

Also, to install new one the manual says to use Loctite 27131? I can't find that anywhere what's everyone else using?
