Hi folks,
I have a question about a 17 ft 1991 McKee Craft cc Offshore. I am looking to buy this boat. I know that I will need to inspect it carefully, and have it surveyed, if possible. I know they are unsinkable, and have a strong foam core. However, I do have a few questions, and I'm sorry if these are elementary.

* Is there any wood in this boat at all? Transom, decking, under the decking?
* In planning to look at this boat, what should I be looking for, in relation to the McKee boats? In other words, is there some problem that this generation of McKee boats had that I should be looking for?
* It has a 1991, 2-stroke Suzuki on it. While not terribly familiar with that motor, anything I should look for on the motor, and any problems inherent with that motor?
* It will be used for inland lakes, some tubing, some fishing, and the occasional trip to the coast for bay fishing (no offshore).

Thank you for your time and answers!

hp of motor???
Buying a boat

1st you need to decide what you want to use it for, fishing, cruising, or water sports.

2nd how many people adults, children you want on board of the average outing.

3rd outboard, inboard-outboard, or inboard power plant.

4th Budget, what you want to pay, and what you are willing to pay, when you find
Exactly what you want.

You can hire a marine surveyor, to inspect the boat, or you can do it yourself.

You are mainly looking for soft spots in the deck, transom, cracks, all signs of a rotten, under frame. You walk all over the deck, that a mallot, or hammer with wooden handle, using handle, tap all over the transom, a shape rap is good solid base, a thud, is questionable base.

The motor should be clean, no spots where the paint is discolored, or pealing from heat, having run hot. (This part for outboard motors Compression should be atleast 100psi, and within 10% of each other,)
Spark on all cylinders, good pee stream, check lower unit for water in oil.

The overall condition of the boat will tell you a lot, as to how it has been maintained.
boat motor combo, A 30 year old may be in better condition, than a 3 year old.

Re: Mckee Craft 1991 CC??

Sorry, I wasn't clear.
* The motor is a 1991 115 HP Suzuki outboard. This is a 2 stroke.
* Boat will be used for inland lakes, and occasional run to the bay (shallow waters). Some fishing, some running around, some tubing
* Number of people will be min of 2, may of about 6-7
* Prob, max of 3 people fishing
