I am installing a rebuilt MCM 165 I 6 back into my boat and the rubber on the harmonic balancer looks pretty bad, OK so I buggered it up pulling it off the engine at disassemble. I knew I shouldn't try with a 3 jaw puller, but I did. I really didn't give it much of a pull before I ran off to Lordco to buy a plate style puller. Any way it wobbles. Can I buy an automotive harmonic balancer or should I look for mercruiser version?
Regards,
Alan

I have done some research and have spoken to a tech adviser at Dorman - maker of harmonic balancers. He could not reference the mercruiser part, but has come up with a part number for me. 594-014. I am (of course I am) in a bit of a time bind, so will probably check out an auto recycler tomorrow as well as trying to get the new part. I may even call the local marine shop to see if they can get the balancer for me.
