I am haveing problems with my gas motor. A volvo mechanic has a md21a for sale, he says it can bolt on to my 270 outdrive. is this a good motor how do i clean my gas tanks for diesel, how much speed can i get out of this diesel.

even though no one replied I got the motor have not hooked it up to my outdrive yet. I still need to figure out if i can put diesel in my old gas tanks, I still need to know if my 270 outdrive will work and I need to know about the gears for my outdrive the mechanic says i should change them. he looked at my boat and said he would install for fifteen hundred is this a good price or to steep

also he says I can turbo this diesel motor for more hp how would i do that

Yes you can put diesel in your gas tanks. I did exactly that. Pump or drain as much of the old gas out as possible then just fill up with diesel. A little old gas mixed in with the diesel won't cause any problems. With mine I just changed the fuel filters after running the first 20 hours, on the assumption that they're going to catch any junk from the tank or varnish from the old gas.

Johnmorgan: I installed a GM 6.2 liter diesel V8 in place of the original Chrysler 360 gasser V8. There's a complete thread about it in this section. Just do a search for '77 Luhrs 28 repower.

one good looking boat you have luhrs28. now I really want to get working on my boat but money is tight so I will have to put it on the back burner. oh well. work is going to pick up soon I hope. for now I am going to keep an eye open for info on the gears I am going to need to put in my leg for this diesel volvo md21a.

Volvo used the 270 drive with the MD21. it had a 2.15:1 ratio.
