Hi forum.
It's a long shot but maybe some of you can help. And maybe this should be in the Chrysler section even though it's kind of a prop question...
I just purchased a "new" SS 10x14 13 spline prop for my old 65HP Chrysler and need the flared spacer and the long cone.
I have the short cone on the old prop and that one has the built inn spacer that makes it look like a rocket with the cone attached.
I found some flared spacers and long cones on ebay, but customs and shipping makes it very expensive, I live in Denmark. I then figured I just make my own. But I need some measurements!
I don't know if there's a difference for the 15 spline version, but it's the 13 spline one I'm looking to replicate. I do think they are the same in size, but I have neither one of them at hand.

I would like to know the widest, narrowest and the thickness point of the flared spacer and the widest point and length of the long type cone?

Measuring on the screen, online photos, I seem to come up with 95mm or 3.7inches as the widest point for the flared washer. But that seems like a lot!

Nothing magical about it. The OD at the prop is the OD at the rear of the prop casting or slightly smaller...a few mm. On length, the taper would terminate at the rear of the LU casting. Just how much performance improvement I have no idea. I had a 1971 85 hp with the cone and my answer is my best rememberance of that setup. I know that they run thru prop type props on some of these Chryslers with the non-thru hub exhaust and I have no idea how much drag that creates.

According to the late Frank A it doesn't do much performance wise, maybe if there is a ventilation issue, but other than that not much. But the looks!!
We lost so much knowledge with Frank, what a shame.
I don't know if there ever was a one piece lower unit with 13 splines and thru hub exhaust? My new prop is not a solid hub like the old alu one, but I think Frank at some point mentioned that it was for weight saving and not for exhaust. It makes sense. And the body of the prop is the same as the solid alu prop, well the end is different and that's why I would like the flared spacer and the longer cone.

I miss Frank too. Enjoyed his posts and being a previous Chrysler owner (2 engines), could relate to his posting.

I do recall him playing around with an engine in the 60-70 hp class, 3 cyl I think. There was something distinctly different about that engine that attracted his attention. He "souped it up" as I recall and posted mind boggling results. Sorry but I do not recall the facts. A search of the archives may turn up something. His last name was spelled something like Ampupora or ...fora . A trip browsing through the Chrysler archives would surely turn up his name and get you onto his postings.

I have just recently bookmarked a thread about the clutch dog on the one piece Chrysler leg that Frank replied to. Thought it might come in handy one day.
And what happened yesterday when I went out to test the new prop for the first time in 5 years..... It slipped out of gear! To make matters worse I thought it was spitting back and misfiring on me and continued trying to sail.
I then realized something was up and headed back. The last few hundred meters or so it had a real hard time moving forward. So I was pretty devastated.
Well the point is that Frank's post are a literal goldmine for us Chrysler users.
If nobody have the measurements of said spacer I just go of pictures online and give it my best shot.

Ok today my nos flared spacer and long cone (124mm long) arrived from the states. The long cone doesn't fit my setup, it must be for the larger engines, swinging 13" dia props. I assume that the flared spacer for the 15 spline shafts are larger too! Mine is the 13 spline with 10" dia prop.
It is quite large in dia. compared to the smaller cone and therefor doesn't fit the flared spacer. It looks odd too.
Well I was really close with the measurements..... It's actually only a hair over 95mm dia! Maybe 95.3mm or around there.
The height of the flared part is around 26mm and total height about 29.5mm.
The narrowest part of the flare is 63mm.
