Mecury 125 Mounting Bolts-Help?

I have a 2002 125hp Merc outboard. I am getting ready to mount it to a 1994 19'10" Osprey CC (exact hull as the 20' Cape Horn CC). I looked online and found a Merc spec sheet for mounting bolt sizes. This sheet said for 75hp and up to use a

1/2" x 20 x4 1/2" SS bolt

??? Can anyone confirm if this is the correct bolt?

??? It says to use a Brass self locking nut, but I was going to go with SS. Is there any issues that I should be aware of, or is SS fine?

??? The bolts are 18-8 grade SS, is this suitable for mounting this motor?

Thanks for the help,

Mike.

Re: Mecury 125 Mounting Bolts-Help?

Use a fine thread 1/2 SS bolt long enough to do the job. The motor will need four bolts. Use a ss nylon lock nut and some silicone sealant to waterproof the bolt.

if you boat on freshwater, galvanized grade 5 steel bolts and nylon locknuts are OK.
