Is anyone using the MEFIScan tool from ODB Diagnostics? It’s only about $200 and looks like it can record all parameters. Dose it work well? I will use it very rarely so for $200 that’s darn good, unless it doesn’t work. I just want to verify all the sensors are in spec and check for codes. I have a slight hesitation when ‘hitting’ the gas and want to chaise it down. Checking the sensor parameters will help eliminate them. The only thing i see it can’t do is set base timing. Anyone have thoughts?

That is the number one tool folks use, if it works that is a good price. It does take adapters to scan different ECMs
MEFI 1 trhu 4 use the same adapter

Agree, but i guess my real question was does it work? Lots of comments about Rinda but not much about this one.

Woops sorry, my bad. The the MEFI scan and tune is good, I also have it. It also comes with MEFI Burn to reflash the ECM and other tools to look into how the motor is performing. It does not do some things like fire injectors but does show how they are doing, same as Rinda.

OBD tool allows you to see everything in real time on a laptop similar to diacom SW by Rinda. If it comes with all the SW and make sure it comes with the original unlock code, I would get it

When I was looking at MEFI software, I was a bit concerned about the OBD Diagnostics products (MEFIscan/MEFIBurn), as the site and information did not seem current or well supported. It also looked like you had to figure out the right combination of software, decoder file, and data link connector, which made my head hurt.

The Rinda Diacom was plug 'n play, so for a few hundred $$$ extra I decided to relive myself of the headache. Looks like AllDodge has his stuff working though. So, it may be worth a try.

Pull the ecu and look at numbers on back . Obd diagnostics has them listed on their site as to what mefi version they are. Yours should be 3

When I was trying to get my Donzi to run right I borrowed a Rinda from a friend. It had helped with the water pressure problem but the engine would still only go up to 3500 rpm and was not showing any codes but it acted like it was still in Guardian mode. Turned out that the spark plugs was the final solution. It instantly wound up to 5000.
An old time Sun Tune Up machine Oscilloscope would have helped.

Lubak572 I do have it running but it has been a roller coaster ride. I had the TBI injectors cleaned and put new gaskets on the TBI. After that, I could not get over 2000 rpm. One of the two injectors was not firing. I was on vacation and desperate so a local Marina that cleans injectors cross referenced a 1991 Suburban 454 injector and i got one at an auto parts store. I am to this day not convinced that is the correct injector. I was able to get to 4200 rpm at this point but it seems to be running very rich with a very slight hesitation when hitting the gas. I then got the VP adapter to test the high pressure fuel pump and it is steady at 30 lbs at idle. I was alone that day and could not check it at wide open throttle. I now have the two original injectors back at the cleaners and i am waiting to hear about them. I picked up an anti siphon valve for the fuel tank and will replace for good measure. I have not yet checked the timing. Just nervous about jumping wires that go to the ecu I guess. that is where i am today.

Wish you were closer, I would bring my laptop and help you. Yes I believe those injectors are the bigger 454 ones. Spr performance in IL would be the guy to call and ask. He is the TBI guy.
