melted impeller

I melted an impeller on my 92 evinrude outboard and the impeller was intact but melted ,i thought but i think some pieces went into the cooling system i am replacing water pump kit and thermostat. my question is how do i flush the cooling system to assure it isnt clogged with old pieces of impeller

with your lower end off and your thermostat housing off hook a garden hose up to your water tube and turn in on about half way. This should blow any thing out that is in the water tube. Then put you housing back on without your stat in and do it again. If you get a good stream out of your tell tale you should be good to go.<br /><br />Good Luck
