There should be plenty of sightings this weekend. We look forward to hearing about all of them.

Re: Memorial Day Weekend Stupid Human Sightings

Absolutely right! I doubt I will even attempt to launch. Memorial Day is one of the most active days at the lake  .

For those of you that would like to participate in the fun forget the maintenance (it ran 4 years ago), anyone can back a trailer (good day to teach the novice how to back up), great time to try out the boat (invite everyone to insure that the capacity is really what the Coast Guard printed on the certification plate), oh and don't forget the coolers.

For the spectators, consider this point system:

1 point for removing engine cover at the ramp (1 bonus point for blaming someone else :( )

2 points for being towed in :( .

2 points awarded for multiple creative backing attemps.

3 points for a backing accident with a 10 point bonus for dumping the boat on the ramp (ah the "dry launch" method  ).

3 points for any ticket issued for boating violation (not enough PFD's, lack of required safety equipment, 50 bonus points for BUI  ).

2 points for swearing about the PWC and blaming anything on them  .

I hope everyone has a safe ZERO point weekend. Remember boating is supposed to be fun!!!

Bob :D Patience should be the word for this busy weekend.

Bob,

At the ramp that I frequent for some entertainment, I frequently see a good old fight. Sometimes with just words, other times it breaks out into a donnybrook.
How many points for that?

I'm NOT launching anything. Just watching.

I think I'm going to just drive to the ramp and put a lawn chair down and watch. THe scenery is always good and the entertainment is generally pretty sporty too.

Yep, going to be a fun weekend for watching. Going down to Piasa Public Launch Ramp near Alton, IL to watch the people launch and retrieve. Going to do this on Sunday at about 6pm. Also taking a cooler and the digital camera. Ought to be some great laughs and great pictures. Staying off river this weekend.

Another place that might be fun is Carlyle Lake in IL.

Fights at the ramp....hmmmm that's one I missed.

Okay for fighting

3 points for an arguement between boaters

7 points for blows exchanged (50 point bonus if handcuffs are used after the fight)

10 points for arguement involving a spouse (25 point bonus is a spouse is left to walk home alone)

75 points for physical domestic abuse and a free butt kicking from me if I see it.

Bob

I think I might just win this one.

Let's see, throw some AAA+++ personalities, some malt beverages, gasoline and 100 degree heat into the water and see what happens. It'll boil.

I'll let you know if you need to TAKE CARE of the last one. Haven't seen that one yet, but the season's early!

I already have had to repair brothers drain hole in 17.5' alumacraft that he dry launched. I machined a tapered plug out of some hard steel put anti sieze on it and pounded it through the hole. All is well he can get his plug in without beating the crap out it.

Re: Memorial Day Weekend Stupid Human Sightings

Although I launched out of a boat ramp that is not too busy once i got onto the lake i saw a good one. A fellow in one of those boats more suited for running offshore rather than the lake was just flying through at top speed and instead of turning and heading up the canal he headed out into the stumpfield full throttle. From the noise way the passangers and himself were tossed around and fact the motor died I guess he will need an new lower unit. There were boats closer and a couple were already headed his way when I saw everyone was okay. BTW Fishing was great.

How many points for lifting the motor cover out on the lake? And also how many points for needing to beach the boat to change a spun prop? Unfortunately this was me on Sunday. Still had a great time though, recovering from my sunburn today.

Big Al,

The "cover off" is a good one. Even better if followed by thrown tools or those dropped overboard.

A spun prop hub, not your fault.

Re: Memorial Day Weekend Stupid Human Sightings

Well, I just about did it today. How many points for being stupid and overloading 14ft fishing boat by 450-600 pounds with four people in it. Then taking it out on a big lake with ocean-like swells, hitting two or three big ones, water fills boat, front goes under, and about crapin in your pants. Then, I get idea to pull plug and drain...... Well.... didn't work. Got the boat goin wide open, then more water comes in. Just about go crazy to put plug back in. Then i decide to go to shore and bail it with a 20 ounce sprite bottle. Took a long time  Hey, at least it didn't sink. Gonna go in a few minutes and buy a bilge pump. :D

James

Say....how much for getting put on the couch for the night???? All I said was, "I'm the captain of this boat." WTF?

88spl - WTF is right (LOL), however I'd get the same treatment too. My guess is, it would be safer to say "I'm the captain of this boat - cause my wife said so."

...brave words Crab... - but I can just picture you sayin' that about 5 minutes before you'd find yourself collecting up your clothes and belongins that were scattered all over the front porch and shielding your head with your arm to avoid flying projectiles - as you scamper off down the street to your neighbour's dog box...

...and you'd be missing that big screen tv too...

just my 2 cents... ;)
