These days it's pretty common for both partners in a marriage to work. I think the last statistic I read was that about 46% of the workforce are women. I know my wife has worked since she was 18. And for that reason I make sure I hold up my end of things whether it's in the house or elsewhere. Which brings me to the grocery store.
It seems that Saturday morning must be reserved for guys at the grocery store. And I'm not talking mostly guys, I mean all guys. Young Dads with their kids, old barnacles, and everything in between. I'm beginning to think they don't even let chicks in until noon. And then this evening I decided to stop by the store and pick up a few things on the way home. There were four guys in front of me and one guy in line behind me. It was then I said "Do women even grocery shop any more?" That's when these five guys stopped what they were doing and turned around and started grinning. It was funny.
Don't get me wrong - I'm not complaining or anything of the sort. In fact, I get home before my wife almost every day and do nearly all of the cooking. I like it that way. I married a wonderful woman (who makes a great second income), but cooking is not her thing. Which I guess is why I'm in the grocery store on Saturday morning.
