My '63 Merc 110 9.8 HP, has been running great. Yesterday while out on a cruise around the lake in my 1956 Alumacraft 14 footer, I noticed very little water coming out of the Merc 110 exhaust at idle, and little to none at cruise. I stopped immediately and opened up the hood and put my calibrated hand and the head, block, and spark plugs. I was surprised and pleased to find that the were only very warm but not at all hot to the touch after a good hour or so of running at different speeds. I was was about 3 miles from my boat trailer so I took a chance and motored back stopping and checking for higher than normal heat along the way. I made it back to the boat launch ramp with no problems. I pulled the impeller out as soon as I got home and sure enough it had lost a vane, but lucky it was in the cup and was easily recovered.
This is my only Kiekhaefer era outboard so I am not familiar with these pump impellers. Could you please tell me a correct part number for this impeller? I have not been able to come up with a part listing for this early of a serial number, the old impeller inside diameter mesured .456", and seemed to fit properly.
