Merc 115 1982 6 cly Spitting at high mid to high speed

Hi all Kinda new here. My problem is: I have a 115 1982 mercury outboard 6 cly rebuilt carbs and checked fuel pump and all new line and tank from eng down. Whats going on is when I give the eng full power she gets up just fine but she spits and acts like she wants to go faster So its like Im going 20mph and then i go 25mph back to 20mph. the boat sounds and runs great at low speeds starts up with no problems. Any ideals? Thanks all

How are all fuel hoses, connections, primer bulb and all that. And you said fuel pump, did you mean fuel pump(s)? It sounds to me like you need to rebuild the fuel pumps as well. In these 4 and 6 cylinder mercs I have always had more issues with fuel pumps than the carbs.

Ya all new from eng down on the fuel, New fuel line bulb tank Thats what I was headed to do next is the fuel pump thanks for your help Pete

OK so I replaced the fuel pump well rebuilt it new spark plugs new gas every thing from eng down rebuilt carbs new flots pins gaskets ect runs great at 1 to 10 mph but after that it kicks and spits like it wants to go but can't get over 15 to 20 mph geuss I need to do compresion test next huh man I love spring time to fix everything and find new Problems to work on By time your done getting the boat all nice and running great ITs Winter lol anything else I should try guys and gals any help would be great.

Check your spark as you could be dropping a couple of cylinder due to trigger/stator/bia's circuit problems....
