Merc 115 HP 4S 2003

Anyone have comments on these engines?<br /><br />I'm looking at picking one up used, w/ warranty transfer. RPM is topping out at 3000 rpm (limp mode?) Current owner is taking to local dealer for review & fix.<br /><br />Just don't want to get stuck with someone elses problems.<br /><br />Thanks in advance!

Those engines have earned a pretty good reputation, Bucky.<br /><br />The only common problem I have heard of is "gas in the oil" caused by inadequate seating of the rings during breakin and running too cool. A new, hotter thermostat and some hard running have solved those problems.<br /><br />Good luck.
