I've been offered a good deal on a used boat with a 2003 Mercury 115HP 4 stroke EFI. Problem is the engine runs great right up to 3000 rpm. (sounds perfect up to this point) Anything past 3000 rpm it cuts out.<br /><br />I've been told (word of mouth) that these engines have a "limp mode" that limits rpm to 3000. is this true? Is so, any thoughts on why it would run fine up to that point? Could a plugged fuel filter cause this?
