Merc 140- ignition coil

Is it posible to test the ignition coil if the points are burned out?

I instaled new coil and I am not getting any spark, Although I did find I has it instaled negative on positive

and corrected my error. Could I have burned out the points and fried the new coil??

You might want to go to the Mercury forum page, and post the question there. It will get alot more exposure there.
