Just got my boat running, 81 caravelle with merc 140. Haven't put it in the water yet waiting on my trim unit to come in. Fired it up out of water with muffs on just to hear it run. Was curious how much water should be coming out of the ports. I have a good spray coming out of the underneath part of the upper unit and a steady spray and flow coming out of the center of the propeller. should this be streaming out of the 2 smaller holes or does the spay sound right? The exhaust comes out of all of these. Thanks, Mark Baity:D

Sounds good, just keep an eye on the temp.

i'll suspect your '81 drive to still be a model 1. mine for sure a 1 drive. this is the way mine looks.

if you look close you can see the water spiting out of the idle relief port. water out the prop and pee hole in the ft. of the bullet. this is what i think mine is supposed to look like for flow. it was right after a impeller and water hose replacement. engine stays nice and cool like yours too.. it's also nice to see the waterpump taking water from the muffs. note no water bleeding out of the muffs. you can see the water is mostly turned on at my valve right before the muffs. no water exiting the muffs. it's all gettin sucked in...
