First of all I hope everyone is enjoying the summer, here in CT it is way too short. I finally got a slip assignment and took my boat out fishing this afternoon on longisland sound..didnt catch much fish, but who cares, wasnt working...any ways heres my question: I have a 150 1986 black max mercury out board on a 1972 Robalo... the engine had some issues but seems to be running fairly well, I never push it, but do try to keep the revs up...it seems I always am fouling the plugs, can i try cutting back on the oil injection pump?? am kinda concerned it is where the manuel says it should be set..but it starts running like poop after a couple of hours. I checked the compresssion at the begining of the summer....was between 90 and 100 psi in all six cylinders..any help on this issue would be appreciated, Thanks Art

Yes I am using the plugs that the mercury manual calls fo , they are not the kind of spark plugs you can adjust the gap on, ..off the top of my head i believe they are NGK BU8H

Re: merc 150 fouling plugs

I have heard someone suggest using the regular type plugs instead of the surface gap plugs, as they do not foul as easy.
