hey everyone. 1998 merc 150 2 stroke carb. just rebuilt my powerhead and finally got it going. i put it in the water and putted around for a little while, then i decided to give it a little gas and the moment i throttled up, the motor started bogging and eventually would cut out. sometimes i could pump the primer bulb and it would start to act right then die off. one time it accelerated fine then it just completly shut off. i am goin to replace the primer bulb and line assy to see if that fixes it (plus it needs to be as its 12 years old) i think i might have not installed something correctly on the fuel pump. also i noticed when i had it running in the yard that where the fuel line and oil line meet, i could see what looked like bubbles in the T fitting before it gets to the fuel pump. anyone have any suggestion on this??

Re: merc 150 fuel issue/ bogging out

You have an air leak somewhere between that T fitting and the tank. If you replace the primer line or bayonet fuel connecter parts, be sure they are merc as afermarket (atwood) won't flow enough fuel for your engine.

If you're not sure of the fuel pump, re-do it, only 25 bucks for parts. Also, if you have replaced the fuel pump pulse line with a soft one (tygon), that would be a problem. It needs to be a nice stiff piece of marine fuel line.

hope it helps
