Hi,
I have a Mercury Xr4 150hp with an aluminum 12"1/2 x 23P Black Max prop and I'm reaching my WOT (5800rpm). My question is if I buy a SS prop should I keep the same size and pitch or should I reduce the pitch.

My boat is a Glastron Carlson css 16 ft.

Thx

Same size or 1 pitch higher. SS does not flex and provides better hole shots. I also picked up 3MPH. Worth it to me...

SS blades are also thinner (less drag = more RPM) but offer better bite via cupping ( less rpm). Expect a speed gain.

Thx guys,

but I think i'll go with the Aluminum Black Max 13 3/8 x 25P... do you think it's a good choice ??

You're gonna lose some rpm with both the diameter increase (more blade surface areato bite) and the increased pitch. Why jump up in pitch?

I'd like a more fuel efficient crusing speed and a lillte bit more top end. So i guess i'll go with same size and pitch that what i already have but in SS
