Anyone know the procedure for removing the carbs on the I6 1500 model (1973)?

How do you remove the carb attachment nuts on the starter side of the motor?
I can get everything else removed for access to the carbs, except for the nuts on the start side.
Thanks in advance for any help!!

I had to remove the starter to access mine (1963 Merc 1000), and even then there was some tight clearance.

Snag, On that motor it is useful to remove the top cowl support brackets, and then the starter. After removal of these items (also disconnect the electrical plug to avoid a fire)remove the carb bowl covers. Now the carb nuts can be removed with a 7/16" socket on an extension.
