Hi. I'm new to this forum. I tried searching for an answer to this, but couldn't find anything similar.
I have a '78 Century with the Merc. 165 (Inline Six, GM Block). I bought it last year from the original owner. Original owner performed all of the maintenance, and reported no problems with the boat during his ownership.
I had no issues with the boat last summer.
This summer, I've experienced the following problem three times, and now I don't trust the boat to take it on the water unless I do something:
Occasionally, when I go to shift the boat from neutral after it has been idling, it stalls and won't start back up. If I remove the boat from the water, lower the stern drive, and the put the boat back in the water, it starts right up. I can take all sorts of guesses as to what's happening, but I thought I'd throw this to the forum to see if anyone has any knowledge/experience they can share. Thank you very much for any help.
