merc 170 starter issue

Hey guys and gals, I am putting in a new starter on my 1986 170hp mercruiser and Im not sure how to connect the wires to the starter and solenoid. The starter that came out of it was not original and it did not have a solenoid on top and the new one does. The old one only had one power wire to the starter and that was it. Thanks!

It's there, it just doesn't preview for some reason. I did add just the link to it, does the same thing.

If you scroll around with your cursor, you will find the invisible link. Not sure why some .pdf files do that.

Hey guys and gals, I am putting in a new starter on my 1986 170hp mercruiser and Im not sure how to connect the wires to the starter and solenoid. The charging system was changed from the old stator and water cooled voltage regulator to a alternator charging system so Im not sure where to run the wires to the solenoid and starter because it is different from the original wiring diagram.....thanks

no im not ....when I asked the first one I didnt realize the boat had been converted to an alternator system from the original stator and regulator system so now the wiring is different. I dont know how to wire in the starter and its solenoid....any suggestions

How the starting system is wired has nothing to do with the charging system or how it's wired.

Ayuh,... Everything is the same, except the orange wire will be comin' from the alternator, rather than the old regulator...

'n you should have just reposted the new question on this earlier thread, so everybody would know what yer talkin' about...
