I have a manual for this motor ( Selog) and a real merc manual for my late model 3.0 s,
This motor has been in storage a few years and I want to confirm from where does the line come that goes to the air box and also that this motor does not have the bottom crank to top crank hose set up. Finally I am only seeing 2 bleeder ports on the starboard side cylinders. I have lots of bleeder hose diagrams for later model 200 hp.
Nothing matches this motor. Just want to be sure the crank bearings do not have lines.
I am going thru the carbs now as it runs strong mid range to wide open but idle is poor and to get it to mid range I push in enrichener and goose throttle to get up to strong power.

Try to help us out a bit. Is it a vert reed 2.0 liter with 5 bleed hoses on it?

Sounds like a 2.4 we need to know the numbers. Definately not a 3.0 way different when it comes to hoses.

Vertical or horizontal and the number of bleed connectors on the block will tell me which diagram to go to.

I get a little tired of the landlubbers posting little info and not answering questions.

It gets really irritating when they then claim you couldn't/wouldn't help them.

Get with the program. OP.

Bleed fitting for a cylinder is right in front of it on a vert reed block. The 5 valves in the reed block are all one way going out. (with a straw, you can suck, but not blow) Hose from #1 goes to cylinder #4, 2-5, 3-6, 4-1, 5-2. Reed block 6 does not have a hose. The hose from the air box goes to a nipple just to the left of #4 check valve.

Hope it helps. All the info is on page 4-46 of the manual. Maybe somebody can scan it in.

Carry on, sailor.

I am hoping someone can show me the bleeder hose sketch as I really do not need another manual as I have one for my 3.0 s and one for my 1996 200 hp. Thanks for the help and replies

Thanks, Hopefully with carbs cleaned up and your info put to use the merc will idle better and throttle up better.
