no spark at plugs... CDI troubleshooting guide said to "pull the black/yellow kill wire at the pack and retest. If the engine fires now, the kill circuit has a fault-possibly the key switch, harness or shift switch... I cannot fined any test procedures for key switch or shift switch testing. Yes, I do have fire at the plugs with the kill wire disconnected.. Does the key and or shift switch, when in the off position put a ground on the kill circuit?? Any assistance would be appreciated.

Pretty sure you do not have a shift switch as that motor only idles on 2 cylinders anyway. I would check the safety switch and make sure it is on. Mercury uses a toggle switch that can get turned off or stuck in the middle and will kill spark.
