I am in the process of moving a 200 merc from one boat to another. It has power trim that is external, ie the pump is located inside the boat. It is connected to the motor with 2 hydraulic hoses. I had to disconnect the hoses during transfer. During the transfer, much oil (10w 30) leaked out of the hoses.

What is the best method to hook these back up and refill? I was thinking about squirting oil into the hoses until full, and then connecting them to the pump. Of course, the pump will need to be topped off too. Will this work OK, or will the air still need to be purged?

Also, the rubber on the outside of the hoses is crumbling off. They should probably be replaced, but they were not leaking before.

Thanks for any advice,

Rick
