Ive read the thread moody blue did 2010, and Ive got the general idea, but got a few questions about mine.
Ive reassembled the Fwd gear & pionion gear & torqued it up. Ive got a dial indicator & bolted it on top of the lower unit & clamped a piece of metal onto the drive shaft (Impeller key flat).
Question ? is the distance of 1 inch (Quoted in moody blues thread 2010) still relevant when doing a Merc 20, (Ive measuerd 1 inch from the centre of the forward gear, & this comes out in the midle of the fwd gear teath, is this the relavance of 1 inch).
Also ive used engineering blue on the gears & they seem to mesh ok, theres full contact all along the teath, & the inner edge of the pinion gear lines up with the inner edge of the fwd gear, is this coorect alingment.
