I just recently bought a used Merc 225 EFI (2000). After getting everything hooked up, I realized there was no oil in the clear output tube that runs from the oil pump to the fuel pump/vapor seperator. I hooked up the fuel line to a tank of premix, just to be safe, and ran the engine for about 10 minutes.
Watching the oil output tube, I could see the oil pumping it's way up to the fuel pump area...ran the engine for about 10 more minutes just to make sure the oil line was air-free. Came out the next morning and the line was empty again...
Should this line be holding oil? I've reinstalled new clamps on both ends of the tube, made sure there are no leaks on the pump/lines, etc...but the oil is still draining back from the output tube, presumably going back to the reserve tank?
Can anybody else with an EFI motor confirm this? I don't want to take it off premix and run it, since it takes about 3-4 minutes for the oil to fill the entire tube and get into the vapor seperator.
Thanks
