A buddy of mine gave me a 1986 25hp XD model a couple of years ago. I replaced the impeller not long after I had it, and when I went to kick her over she didn't start. I discovered that there was no spark to either cylinder, and at that time I took it to a dealer.
The dealer told me that it was the "box" I believe. In any case, he told me that it was fixed and running well. Today, two years later, I decided to see if she ran after moving from NY to Florida. It started up alright, but I thought it was going to shake itself off the stand. I had her hooked up to a flush device and hose. The manual says that I should see water coming from the pee hole as soon as the water is turned on. Is this usually the case? Does the engine not have to be running for the water to come out the pee hole? In any case, it doesn't come out with the engine running either. Of course I didn't let it run long enough to cause any harm, but other than the tank test at the dealer, it never saw water since the impeller was changed two years ago. Could it have rotted enough to fail already?
