Gents,
First run of the year and my boat blew the circulation hose. Put a new hose on and it was blown off at the clamps on my second outing (clamps will be replaced as they don't seem to hold tighten fully). The boat runs great start, idle, WOT with the garden hose in the driveway (Temp 150 degs steady). I cleaned out some of the grit in the thermostat housing (minor) as well as replacing the thermostat. I ran it on the lake yesterday temp was a constant 150 initially, and I ran it all day at 3/4 throttle. The hose seem to be under pressure at 3/4 throttle when I squeeze it. Last run back to the dock I started the boat and ran it at about 1/4 throttle. Temp seemed slow to move up. Throttled to WOT ran for about a minute then the hose was blown off (clamp did not hold it on).
I guess my big question would be..how much pressure should this hose be under (new bigger clamps will be installed, but am I just asking for a blown hose..) am I looking at a blockage somewhere (manifold)?
Things I know..
-no water in oil or cylinders (inspected many times)
-new fuel pump, water separator, plugs and wires (starts runs, and idles, wot good)
-took all the hoses off, stuck a garden hose in all ports seemed and it seemed to get good circulation all through (not very much pressure from the hose but def'n not a complete blockage anywhere.
Im running a Merc inboard 3.0l on a Volvo SX Cobra leg with a Volvo seawater pump (ran it all last year without a hiccup in the cooling system..)
winterized the boat-ran a small amount of antifreeze thru the system as well.temps were as low as -30C/-20F here.
-engine never ran hot-riser is cool to the touch at all times..
