hey guys,
ok, so i was given a 17' bowrider with 3.0 merc. last week, (yes, free). brought it home, replaced the starter, coil, cap, rotor, condenser, points, fuel pump, treated the fuel, performed oil and filter change, replaced fuel/water seperator and cleared the lines.
i can get then engine to start by giving her approx. 1/2 throttle. it starts, races up to ~2000-2500 rpm's, and once i back it down to about 1/4 throttle it will stay running at 1000rpm's for as long as i let it. if i back the throttle down any more, it dies.
took it to the lake today for some testing, found that it will die before i have any chance of pulling the shifter back to get her into gear.
i'm guessing that this is an idle adjsutment/carb issue? any ideas?
or, could this be two seperate issues such as idle/carb and/or outdrive?
p.s~ those of you that gave suggestions on my last post 'fuel problems', i thank you, i did eventually figure out that disasterbocle!
