Hi all.
I am new to these forums. Excited to be a part

I am working on an engine/drive removal and swap.
I bought a donor boat (Caravelle 21') with an 888 combo (302 with 888 drive)
The engine is pretty tucked back in the Caravelle. I am having a hard time seing much.
What do you suggest to remove everything? I believe the drive gets pulled first which is easy.
The engine mounts on the front/side gets removed.
Thats where I need some guidance. What else do i need to unbolt, pull off etc... to get the engine out.
I started pulling an exhaust manifold to see better back there but it is proving to be difficult.
I do not want to have to chop up the donor boat. I will be giving it away after I am done.

Thank you all for any and all help

Ayuh,...... Welcome Aboard,...... Pull the lag bolts, 'n leave the front motor mounts bolted to the block,......

Disconnect all the hoses, wirin', 'n the exhaust,.....
There's 2 big bolts down through the flywheel cover/ transom that hold the back of the motor,.....

Disconnect and remove the batteries.
Pull drive (make sure it's in forward gear or you'll break something)
Disconnect and plug the fuel line.
Disconnect throttle cable at the carb and remove from the bracket.
Disconnect water hose that runs from transom plate to thermostat housing. (Either end, doesn't matter)
Unplug engine to instrument harness connector.
Disconnect wires from shift interrupt switch.
Loosen clamps on the rubber tubes below the exhaust elbows and break the 'seal' between rubber and elbows.
Remove the 2 rear mount bolts.
Now here's where Bondo and I disagree. He'll have you remove the lag screws, with a high chance of breaking them off if they're corroded. I would remove the large nuts holding the engine to the mount and leave just the mount in the hull. So, that's your choice. Lag screws or nuts.
Sling the engine and lift...

I may have missed something, it's a couple of years since I last pulled an engine... :D

Excellent.
Thank you to both of you.
The 2 bolts in the back were my concern. I did not know and could not see back there.
Seems like and easy job for the most part
