Has anyone got a source for one of the sleeves that fits over the lower crankshaft that the lower seals seal on?
I looked up the part on usboatsupply.com and that piece is not shown, nor is it shown on mercurypartsexpress.com

Look it up under the drive shaft housing parts list. It's part of the drive shaft upper seal even though it's actually attached to the crank shaft end.

Its a kit, I have it in my paper parts list for my v-135 but obviously the parts lists are different. Try Sierra, I think I saw it there once.

The wear sleeves are in Mercury Service bulleton 79-2 - 40 thru 70 HP part # 86348A1, 80 thru 200 part # 86349A1

thanks, Laddies! Do you think the 40-70HP part number will work on the 35 HP?

Yes, they all use the same bottom seal.

thanks Laddies for the info, would it be to much to ask to post a copy of this service bulletin (79-2) if you have it? Mercury marine is even having a hard time directing me to this part ( I emailed them about it). Thanks for all your help!

Again, thank you Laddies, you are the man! Yes, the new Merc service people are MUCH to be desired! I wrote them to see if the part numbers you gave me were still valid or whether they had been superceeded, here's the response,

"Those are valid Mercury part numbers, the first is NLA (no longer available). Mercury would not recommend trying the 40 horsepower part number on a 35 horsepower engine, we cannot guarantee it will work."

Mercury Outboard Customer Assistance

even though they said the 40HP part is NLA they did give me a list of 6 Mercury dealers that still have the part in stock. I found (1) on ebay too.
My real only concern, since the 35 and the 40 use the same seal, is whether the O.D. of the lower cranks were the same. I wonder too if they were glued on with a special type glue. It almost looks like a little glue squeezing out around the sleeve on the service bulletin picture.

I know the 86349A1 goes over existing sleeve with green loctite, the original sleeve is part # 78661.

Thanks man, I hope that the 86348A1 does NOT go over the existing sleeve because mine was split and the lowest part with the curl had corroded away.
If it does, maybe I can find a thin bronze bushing that will fit tight over the crank end and work. Thanks everyone for the help!
