Merc 4.3 ticking?

Hey guys, just a quick question. Finally got my boat out on the water last weekend, and the engine is making a ticking noise that seems a little odd.

Little history : At the end of the last season, while doing the winterization, the marina found water in the oil. This is a brand new boat, has less than 20 hours on it. So they tore the motor down, and Mercury decided to replace the motor(which was done).

The ticking does change with RPM, increases when I power up. The boat itself seems to run/idle fine, no alarms, oil pressure/level is good, drive oil is good, temp seems fine. Under power, the noise does seem to go away, though when idling(no wake) to the slip, it's pretty annoying.

Here is a video of the motor running @ idle in the slip. Let me know if you have any ideas.

The marina that I purchased the boat from has been great, they are going to make a trip over to the slip and take a look at it, just wanted to get some opinions.

It's a 4.3 carb'd motor, 185 SeaRay sport. Thanks,

Re: Merc 4.3 ticking?

Yea, I sent the video to the marina I bought the boat same time I posted this, and they seem to think it sounds like the seals on the water pump. Does seem to make sense, as that is where the ticking is coming from. They are going to go down to the boat(not at their marina) this week, and told me they should have it fixed by the weekend. Gotta love warranties.

Thanks again guys,
