Merc 400 e wiring

I inherited a 1960's Mercury 400e outboard with a burnt out key. The replacement does not have the same colour wires and I dont know if I should continue to use the "button" which I assume is a choke or not. Where is the best source of wiring diagrams and is the button required with a new key system.
