Merc 4000 Remote Problem

I recently switched my Merc Commander 3000 to a 4000. This was done on a 1994 model Bayliner Capri w/Alpha Gen 2. The problem is that when I push in the neutral button (to give it gas w/out engaging prop) and return it to neutral the button "pops" out into the floor. What am I missing? Any help would be great appreciated. Thanks

Your button is broken, You need a new one, Try to find your style controller in this link to find your part number for a new center button. There is a special way that center button comes out or you will break it.

Thanks, Boat Tech! I have a manual downloaded which shows proper procedure to remove throttle button. I purchased this control used so maybe the PO did not know how to remove. Thanks again.......
