At a low speed my motor cut out the other day. I looked back to see smoke coming out of the cowl. I opened it up to find an electrical fire which was put out instantly by a good fire extinguisher.
The hot spot looked like a voltage regulator located on the lower right side of the engine if you are standing behind looking towards the bow. There appears to be two of them. Going from the bottom up it seems there is a regulator, two relays (tilt & trim?) and then a second identical looking regulator.
Are there two regulators on this motor (seems unlikely)?
Am I correct in assuming these are regulators?
What could have caused it to catch fire? I don?t want to replace these do the re-wiring and have another flame off.
My repair manual is on order.
Thanks
