Merc 470 Alloy Head Options ?

Hi all.

I have the opportunity to buy a head for a decent price.

Will a 429 / 460 one work with minimal setup changes ?

Spec as follows -

Intake/Exhaust port volume: 275cc/100cc

Combustion Chamber volume: 95cc

Valve size: 2.19x1.75

Valve Springs: Single with dampner 125lbs closed pressure. Springs will accomadate .640 lift.

Flow figures: 322 cfm @ .600 Intake 195cfm @ .600 on the exhaust

a direct replacement for any 1968 through 1986 429-460 ford engine. They accept standard 460 intake and exhaust manifolds, you do not need to use Cobra Jet intake or exhaust. Ayuh,.... Unless yer in need of a Head, I doubt it's worth the effort,...

But, Ya, it oughta fit alright...

Hot rodders use aluminum heads on 470's all the time. You will have to add a water intake onto the front of the head. Here is some interesting reading: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=289260
