I've got a 78' Merc 470 that runs well but still needed the alt conversion and 4" exchanger (not sure if its been sleeved but no leak). I found a complete 82' 470 on craigslist that had been sleeved, alt conv, aluminum manifold/cast riser, 4" exchanger, 150psi comp, new gaskets, elec ignition, new coupler and seems to have everything taken care of that normally goes wrong with these engines. I bought it for $400 and figured it I can't get it to work out, I can at least ebay the parts for what I have in it. I want to just swap the alt conv, exchanger, and manifold/riser (mine is leaking internally, riser I think) to mine for the summer to get going but mine is the early production.
It looks like it should bolt up fine and all but the exhaust outlet sits closer to the front on my current early production that is and the hoses are a little shorter. I figure I can extend the hoses and I'm looking for the S tube, etc. to hook up to the exhaust tube coming through the boat, but I was wondering if there was any other "major" difference that would make this swap absolutely impossible?
Has anyone dones this... early production manifold and riser to newer aluminum?
Notice the S tube and upconverter tube on the back of the riser. This is what I'm currently looking for.
Thanks
Curtis
