I am in the final stages in rebuilding my 470 and was bolting on the harmonic balancer and heard scraping as the balancer turned. I pulled the balancer back off and discovered that many of the magnets were loose.

I easily removed them all and cleaned the minor rust off. Is there a good "glue" or epoxy that I can use to repair this? I would really appreciate any suggestions that you may have.

I would take all of the magnets out clean the balancer and add the alternator kit to you engine. If you already have the alternator kit on your motor you don't need the magnets.

It should be more than just a consideration. It's actually an upgrade. The built in charging systems are notorious for failing and the original parts are VERY expensive. If you do upgrade the system keep in mind there are two different kits. One for engines with power steering and another for non power steering models.

There is special epoxy for this job. I bought the epoxy, but then I ended up just buying a $50 balancer off eBay. (If the magnets fly off, your stator is susceptible to damage.) Then, after I got the new balancer... my water cooled regulator failed. :(

So, I upgraded to a bolt-on alternator system. Custom fabricated. Spent $100 on the alternator, bolts, wiring & belt. Had a friend make me some straps and grabbed a curved alternator bracket from a junkyard car.
