My Merc tach sticks at times. It seems that once it's warm, if I troll or idle for awhile, the tach "sticks" there. No tapping will free it. Sometimes turning off the engine will set it back to zero, and sometimes not.

The tach line is "hollowish". Is this a cable driven tach, vacuum driven? Ideas?

It's electrical, and it's probably shot. If it's a Faria gauge, check with the company for service through their lifetime warranty program.

Thanks, it doesn't stick all the time. I'll see what is wrong if I can when I have it serviced.
