Merc 50 float fulcrum removal? Float fulcrum removal on Walbro wma3

Thanks in advance for answers. Just got the boat, waiting for a manual. Trying to replace the carb gaskets and needle valve. The float fulcrum sat flush on one side and extended out on the other. Gently drove it out with a punch from the flush side and see that the flush side is serrated. Doesn't seem to want to go out through the other side. Did I do it the wrong way? The smooth end of the pin is inserted first when installing and the splined end will be flush when done. So push the pin out from the protruding end. I use a pair of needle nose pliers placed just so to remove and reinstall. It looks like you drove the pin out the wrong side and it looks bent.
