Gerry, so it sounds like the model is determined by the s/n and noteally marked anywhere? The 61 is a short with starter. The l63 is a long with starter. Tring to fiure out if they should have alternators.
See the stator, item 11 under FLYWHEEL ASSEMBLY AND STATOR and the rectifier, item 7, under STARTER MOTOR, STARTER SOLENOID, RECTIFIER AND WIRING HARNESS.
The rectifier is what converts AC to DC for charging your battery.
