I've got a 1970 merc 500 that you guys have helped me with before. I was wondering if there was anyone who knew what the original prop was that came with it. Mine is about worn out and I can't read the numbers on it. I've been happy with the way it performs and would really just like to replace it with whatever it had on it originally. Thanks for the help/

Re: merc 500 prop

There was no standard prop, ck the inner hub and if you cannot read it there you may have to compair it to a new prop to tell the pitch--Bob

Re: merc 500 prop

OK, thanks.

If anybody would care to hazard a guess, I'll give as much information about my rig as I can. The motor is on a 16ft trihull. The boat is heavy has a wide beam and a high freeboard. Average load is 3-4 people and fishing gear. as you can imagine it ain't fast.

Your next question is rpm's and I don't have a tach. Prop actualy looks small.
