Looking for info/help. Just purchased a 2001 31 PC formula. Has dual Bravo 3's on 6.2L MPI engines with the freshwater flush attachment. Manual gives no info on how to use the flush and mercrusier cust serv had no knowledge of it (honest!) I have the garden hose adapter which fits the receptacle by the starboard side riser and from what I can ascertain the engine must be running at no more than 1 grand during the flush. Will this flush the motor and out drive. Anything else I should know about this setup. And is it worth the trouble to use this flush setup. Thanks for any info,

I was not aware that merc had any factory installed flush kits. volvo howerver does. is it possible someone installed an after market flush device? doeas the flush hose enter the cooling system up stream of the seawater pump or down stream?
good luck and keep posting. in the meantime I would find out where and how the engines draw their seawater befor running them out of the water

Re: merc 6.2l freshwater flush

Thanks for the reply Rodbolt,
This is definately OEM. If you take the video tour at http://www.mercurymarine.com/mx_6.2_mpi_horizon_sd_-_320_hp
there is mention of the freshwater flush system. However, this is mentioned only as it concerns the 6.2L HORIZON engine. I do not not have closed water cooling. Maybe this is a horizon engine without closed water cooling. Also this is a 2001 FOrmula but was delivered in June 2002 so these engines are the 2002 year engines not the 7.4L's that were original to 2001 31PC. I have't found anyone including merc cus ser who is aware of this fresh water flush system. One more question- if I disconnet the engine DC power switch (not the dc switch at the service box in the cabin but the one that cuts out the engine(s)) will I then disconnet the mercathode system. thanks Rodbolt and to anyone else who answers.
