Merc 60 4-stroke efi is a Yamaha?

Is a new Mercury 60efi 4-stroke a Yamaha powerhead like the 90/115 are? Does this engine contain electric fuel pumps (high and low pressure) just like the 90/115 efi? I ask as I know a person who is going through what we think is a fuel delivery problem on his new Merc 60efi (4-stroke) and I am cautioning him about letting his engine "fuel starve" and potentially over-heating his fuel pump. Can anyone clear this up?

I might be wrong, John, but I think Brunswick builds the 60 and under EFI 4 strokes. Could be on a Yammy short block, but they were available when there was no Yammy EFI 60.

I wish yammy/merc would publicly clear this up, there is obviously a lot of confusion/rumours etc.<br /><br />I found a web site a few months ago that said yammy build all the merc efi UNDER 30hp but the 40/50/60 are 100% merc. I don't know what to believe .<br /><br />The new 60hpefi 4stroke has two pumps, a low pressure mechanical fuel pump and a high pressure WATER COOLED electric fuel pump.<br /><br />I'm trying to post a schematic of the system but photobucket isn't playing ball at the moment.

As I see it Mercury build the powerheads from 30 to 60HP. Yam build 75-90-115 at this stage. I think that merc will have their own 75-115 4 strokes within 12 months.<br />As JB said Mercury had the EFI 60 a couple of years before Yam, if Yam made the powerhead dont you think that they would of had EFI first.

I didn't say powerhead, whaley. I said short block. BIG difference.
