I recently acquired a used powerhead for my 1992 Merc 60hp. The S/N for the replacement is newer than my original, and has some (mostly) very slight differences. The only one I haven't been able to overcome is the oil injector. The bolt holes from my original oil injector don't line up with the new ones. Additionally, the injector designed for the newer PH is in itself different, as it has a synchronizing link arm to the carburetors (and my present carbs don't have the 'receiving' end of this linkage installed). Can I a) buy the correct oil injector pump for the newer powerhead and run it without the carb linkage (I'm guessing there will be no variable injection rate if I do this), or b) do I gasket and plate the oil injector mount on the powerhead, disconnect the sensor, and premix ? My preference is to use an injector system, but not at the expense of adding the linkage components for the carbs. Thanks, Rich.
