I'm refurbing a 70 model merc 650 I4 and want to add an overheat sensor, due to the fact that those things have really saved me some misery in the past. I've noticed the plug and cutout in the cowl, but there is also a place in the head cover that looks like it could be threaded.
Question is, which place is best to mount the sensor? The head, or what looks to be the water jacket? Any info is appreciated.
